Ryan Jackson is a filmmaker and award-winning screenwriter who has spent more than a decade working as a writer for hire.

The son of a movie theater cleaning company owner, Ryan was quite literally raised in the aisles of a cinema. He spent every summer through high school helping his father while absorbing films and developing the instincts that would eventually shape his career.

After completing a college video production program, Ryan leaned into the part of the process that came most naturally to him: writing. Once he shifted his focus to screenwriting as his path into the industry, momentum followed quickly. He secured representation in Hollywood, began booking paid writing assignments, and relocated to Los Angeles, where he lived and worked for several years.

Ryan’s scripts have appeared on multiple industry “best of” lists, including The Hit List and The Blood List, and he was named to the Young & Hungry List of emerging writers to watch. He co wrote the sequel to John Singleton’s Baby Boy with its star, Tyrese Gibson, a project currently in development with Gibson’s Voltron Films. Over the course of his career, Ryan has written across film and television in multiple capacities and has also published works of fiction.

Ryan is based in Ohio where he continues to write and develop new projects.
