Davina Klein was born and raised in Berkeley, California, by Cuban Jewish parents. She holds a B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley, where she majored in Computer Science and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She earned her Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Education from the University of California, Los Angeles. Combining her areas of expertise, Davina oversaw the development of various educational software titles for children at a large educational software company. She subsequently served as a project manager at the NationalCenter for Research on Evaluation, Standards, and Student Testing at UCLA, examining and conducting research in the fields of student assessment, early literacy, and technological applications in testing.
All that was long ago—before Davina chose a life of making breakfasts, reading picture books, playing at the park, and cleaning up finger paints for her own two children. She believes that perhaps if she adds author to her list of accomplishments, her teenage sons may one day understand what it is she does.
